One Step

A year and three months ago, my boyfriend broke up with me. We were trying the whole "long distance summer college relationship." It really didn't work. Our lives were in two different places and neither one of us wanted to accept that it was not working. As I left work one afternoon, I had a text from him saying it was over. I didn't know what to do. I cried myself to sleep for a long time. When I couldn't sleep, I would write, and write everything down. It just seemed to help. One night when I knew I needed to just move on I wrote this, with the help of a new found friend.

Yesterday is now a part of my past
And quite frankly so are you

You may live in my heart forever
But it is so different than it used to be

Tomorrow is another day to live
It is another day to let my smile shine

With just two steps I can walk on
And I know my strength is my sign

However, today is the day for which I live
It is not just for my friends and family but for me

It is the time for me to stand up straight
With my head held up high and a smile with glee

I will live my life with no regrets
With no looks back at what I could have done

Just looking forward to the memories to come
The ones that will be of you and me and our fun

So don't be sad, angry or depressed
With the things that happened here

Turn that frown upside down
And believe in yourself that it is true my dear

It isn't you who is missing out for being you
It is all those around you who decide not to take part

So go on live your life in power
With strength, glory and honor is a start

With dry eyes and a great big smile
And the warmth of the yellow sun

You walk on and leave footprints in the sand
As you are on the journey you just begun

Welcome

For a few years now, I have always just written my thoughts down and would return to them every once in awhile. Some would be very deep and others would be more low key and just happy memories that I have experienced. Now, I know it isn't always the best and most exciting thing in life to hear about other people lives, but I thought that sharing through this new form of media will get me to see things in a new way.
